Schedule of Work Parties on our Public Farmlands

  • Dear Friends of the Farms Volunteers!

Spring has sprung, the farmers market opened this past Saturday and the veggies are growing quickly!  Friends of the Farms is gearing up for an exciting season of new projects and beloved favorites and we need your help.

Starting this month, we have scheduled monthly work parties on nearly all of our community's public farmlands.  We're planning to pull invasives, maintain trails, put on the 19th Annual Harvest Fair, and much more.

See the specifics below for our first work party on April 27th at the M&E Christmas Tree Farm.  And don't forget to add future work parties to your calendar.  We will follow up with specifics for each but be sure to save the date!

    Next work party:
    When -

  • Saturday, August 24, 2019

  • 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM

    Where -

  • Suyematsu Farm, Day Road

  • Parking at the Suyematsu Farm Stand on Day Road.

    What -

With the help of Kitsap Conservation and the City of Bainbridge Island, work to restore the headwaters of Manzanita Creek has been underway since 2016.  Invasives have been pulled and many natives planted.  But we need your help!  It's time for a delicate hand weeding around young natives, and of course many hands make light work!

Join us for a morning of weeding, learning about our public farmland, snacks, and warm coffee. We will also have a limited number of pruners, shovels and gloves to use.  But if you have your own, bring them along!

What to Bring -

wear long sleeves, close toed shoes or boots, and long pants. If you have them bring gloves.  We'll have a limited amount to borrow.

We will also have a limited number of pruners, shovels and gloves to use.  But if you have your own, bring them along!
